What’s The Wolf In Your Life?

Do you remember those childhood stories about wolves?

There is ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ‘The Boy who cried Wolf’ or ‘The Three Little Pigs’. In each of these stories, the wolf is the baddie, the bad guy that savagely destroys others or their home.

Recently I had the privilege of visiting a large wolf sanctuary. Being a dog lover, it was amazing to see how passionately Larry Paul (the owner and founder of HuskyRomi Wolf Sanctuary) cares for the wolves. After spending five hours there – learning about wolves and interacting with them – I left with a very different perspective on wolves.

Wolves are not like the childhood stories portray. They are not savage. Wolves are timid and will run away from you if you approach them. They are curious and will sniff you if you bend down and keep still. They are gentle souls that howl at night.

I have a new found love and respect for wolves – after all, that is where your loving household poochies descend from.

Where in your life do you have a wolf story? What beliefs do you hold that simply isn’t true? Perhaps you learned it as a child or were influenced by society.  Just like with the wolf story, I was not even aware that wolves weren’t vicious savage beasts until I learnt more about them.

What belief do you live by that simply isn’t true? It is just your perception or what you were taught? Is it that you will not succeed? Is it that you just can’t do something you would love to do? Is it a fear that is so real that it paralyses you?

Perhaps, like me, you aren’t even aware of this limiting untrue belief that runs in the background. Be more aware. So, next you do something or don’t do something, ask yourself why? What is it that I believe that is making me behave this way? Does this behaviour serve me? If not, you have the power to change it.
