What If You…

The metal tower is 16m above the ground and the wind is blowing!

He said: “I’m afraid of heights and you want me to go up there?”

Me: “Yes, I will walk behind you.”

Somehow he didn’t find that very reassuring. He did go up but once he reached 8m, he was ready to come back down regardless of the encouragement.

You have to start somewhere. Halfway is an excellent start!

What is it that you have not started? What are you wanting to create?

Once we both sat down on the grass looking up at the tower, he agreed to climb to the top on another day because he knew there was work to be done at the top.

How do you feel about facing your fear? Fear of heights, fear of failure, fear of being judged by others, or being judged by the harshest judge of all, yourself? Fear of your own success? Fear of shining your own light? Fear of speaking your own truth?

Fear is a natural and often perfectly rational reason for not doing something.

Like, during the arm balance yoga teacher training lesson, I was absolutely terrified that I would fall and break something. I wanted reassurance from another person in the room, not my classmates in the zoom-room. There was no one to catch me or physically support me.

Starting with a few bunny hops and ended up with the wall as my support, I managed more than I thought I would, despite being alone.

What is the best case scenario given your current fear? Is it worth focusing on the possibility rather than the risk?

What will you start with today? Will you put one foot on the ladder and take a few steps? Will you send that first email? Or post the first blog post? Will you put your running shoes on?

What little thing can you do, just to start?

I promise with my hand on my heart, it is not nearly as terrifying as your mind is telling you it could be.

You are braver than you know and smarter than you give yourself credit for.

Go on, just one step. You may even enjoy it and decide to take a few more steps.
