Just For Fun!

Games!

Yay!

Fun!

Woo-hoo!

I don’t know about your life but mine is way too serious – As the proverb goes: all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. I definitely don’t have enough fun or play. Being an adult isn’t always delightful – in fact, I have a friend who will take a day out occasionally where she is done ‘adulting’.

A few friends agreed to join me on an escapade. They brought a playful heart and I brought some spoons, potatoes, hula-hoop, sacks, elastic, cones and a ball. We had a ball (excuse the pun). We ran a ‘potato and spoon’ race, played ‘stingers’, that jumping-girly game called ‘elastic’ and many more.  I don’t quite remember feeling quite so stiff after a sack race when I was a child but it was fun none-the-less and most definitely worth it. Besides learning new game, we laughed. I laughed so much my tummy hurt. It was as if I was a kid again. It was absolutely fantastic!

There was an older couple who placed chairs in their front yard to watch us playing in the park over the road. I smiled and waved, they waved back. By the smiles I got from other people in the park, they seemed envious of the childhood games as adults.

Preston Smiles (what an appropriate name) recommends scheduling play into your diary daily. Being playful and having fun helps us relax and releases endorphins. Besides the health benefits and boosting vitality, it uses a different part of your brain, stimulating creativity. It helps your emotional well-being. Basically, fun and play is good for you.

You should try it, go on…

When was the last time you had fun? What did you choose to do? And most importantly how did you feel?
