Is It An Illusion?

Whilst participating in the second yoga class for the day, I found the mental chatter (monkey mind) incessant. The constant chirps of  my body feeling tired compounded by the belief that  the student teacher had poor time keeping. Thus the belief that the class was never going to end and when it finally did it would be 30 minutes over time.

It was a complete surprise that the teacher finished within the hour and soon after the incessant chatter became unbearable, we were invited to find corpse pose for relaxation (Shavasana).

Finally! Thank goodness! I lay there delighted that it was time to rest and switch off.

I felt guilty that I had had those thoughts and projected them onto the teacher.

Have you had a similar experience where you had convinced yourself that something was a certain way, only to discover later that it was not what you thought it was?

Your thoughts were wrong.

It was only your judgement that had created that thought in your mind.

After the realisation of your skewed judgement, comes the array of self- inflicted  feel-bad emotions including guilt and shame. Causing you to suffer for a second time.

Firstly, it was your chosen thoughts that led you to the feel-bad emotions. Then followed by your judgement of those thoughts. The double whammy!

What if next time, you chose to think that life is working out for you or that regardless of how you feel, it will still work out as it should?

What if nextime you choose to acknowledge the thoughts, stop and give yourself a choice to continue down the aggravating  rabbit hole or choose to understand that your experience was from a learnt behaviour or programme that clearly is no longer serving you?

Changing your role from being the victim to the observer. An increased awareness of what your mind is telling you and observing the impact it is having on your mood and the sensations in your body.

Are you willing to try a conscious shift in perspective, simply to notice the difference in experience you may have?

Are you curious enough to try it?
